"What is an Estate Plan?"
Estate planning is a process whereby a person’s desires and goals for management and disposition of his or her property are analyzed and action is taken to accomplish those desires and goals.
Some of the common questions we approach are:
Once these desires and goals have been defined, the proper documents are prepared. A Will is almost always a part of the plan. Other documents used may include trust agreements, beneficiary designations for life insurance and deferred compensation benefits, powers of attorney for health care and for property, buy-sell agreements, living wills and powers of attorney. On occasion, the basic structure of a business will be altered through corporate re-capitalizations, the creation of partnerships or the establishment of a pension or profit-sharing plan.
